Golf Rangefinder arrives in Australia

13 Jul 2010

Everyone who plays golf knows how hard it is to determine distances on the golf course. Perfect golf swings with the wrong club can be frustrating and destroy your scorecard. With the rangefinder in your hand you can feel safe and don't have to guess your distances. The rangefinder gives you accurate distance to hazards, flags and even to the corners of doglegs!

In 2008, the Rules of Golf were amended allowing measuring devices to be used at all Golf Clubs in Australia that adopts the new rule. Length Master LM 1000 CX is approved and conform to the new rule.

Product Features

Golf Rangefinder: The Length Master LM 1000 CX is an advanced 3rd Generation Laser distance-measuring device for Golf.

Scan Mode: Allows you to get distances from multiple targets while panning the rangefinder across the golf course or the green.

Target Flag Seeking Function: Automatically seeks the target, locks it in and displays the exact distance. Measures distances between 15 to 900 metres. Accuracy is +/- 1 metre (within 270 metres).

Other features include a rotating eye cap providing perfect focus. MODE button changes units from meters to yards and vice versa. Display bar indicator for focus target accuracy. Compact ultra light design (only 200 grams). One minute automatic turn off function.

Laser Rangefinders vs. GPS Rangefinders

Distance-measuring devices are usually either a Laser Rangefinder or a GPS device. The main advantages with a Laser Rangefinder are: pin point accuracy, speed of use and affordability, just point the device to the target and you get the exact distance, boom.

That's why Professional golfer's rely on Laser Rangefinder's to give them the perfect yardage during practice or play before a tournament.

A GPS will not give you the exact distance to a target, it will only be an estimate submeter distance, according to the GPS navigation at that time in combination with the map application.

More benefits with Laser Rangefinder's are no extra fees or hidden costs after your purchase and you don't have to worry about the hassle of downloading courses to the device. Just start using your Laser Rangefinder straight away at any golf course anywhere in the world.

Golf club to accept bids on part of River Trace property

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 07:14 AM PDT

The East Gadsden Golf Club will open bids July 30 on selling about 14.5 acres of the River Trace Golf Course according to Bennett Tucker, chairman of the club's board of directors.

The sale is part of a plan for the club to pay off debts while continuing to operate an 18-hole golf course.

The club, which operates River Trace, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Dec. 29, the day before the property was to be sold by First Jackson Bank of Stevenson.

First Jackson Bank has the mortgage on the approximately 103-acre course and is owed about $2.57 million. The course had other debts as well totaling about $2.7 million in February.

"That would pay all our debts," Tucker said of the sale, "and would be sufficient to relocate those three holes to maintain an 18-hole course."

Tucker said the bids will be opened at 4 p.m. at the course's club house. The winning bid will then have to be presented to the bankruptcy court for approval.

"We've had interest locally and otherwise," Tucker said, adding that proposals have been mailed to several companies that indicated interest in the past.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James Robinson last month approved a plan by the club to sell the front acreage of the course to pay its debt.

According to the club's motion to sell the portion of the property, the front 16 acres in 2004 were appraised at $3.4 million and the remaining acres were appraised at $10.25 million.

The minimum bid that will be accepted is $3.75 million, which Tucker said would pay off the course's debt, pay shareholders a small amount and also finance plans to move three holes so the course can be operated as an 18-hole course.

Tucker said the board of directors already has approved the sale and the property has been zoned commercial.

He said bids can be submitted to the pro shop at the course or to a board member.
