| Posted: 13 Jul 2010 11:23 PM PDT New on the market: Scheyden Eyewear's Revelry Composite Hybrid sunglasses. The scoop: Players on both the PGA and LPGA tours realize that reducing glare on the golf course helps in efforts to read putts and make better contact with the ball. Scheyden Eyewear's new Revelry Composite Hybrid sunglasses are designed to vastly reduce the amount of glare golfers experiene while giving them a comfortable fit as well. Designed as a smaller version of the extremely popular Revelstoke model, the Revelry Composite Hybrid fuses a cedar rolled composite frame with flexible, hypoallergenic NiAg temples and cloisonné tips for total comfort, even when wearing a hat, headphones or a headset. Featuring the only full-coverage wrap design offering a unique custom-fit, the unisex collection is available in either gloss black or Havana tortoise-shell and includes two additional styles — Jet-A and Panorama. The full-coverage frames can be fitted with either glass or CR-39 lenses, which are created using Scheyden's advanced multi-layer process. Hand-ground and polished, they feature a hydrophobic coating to repel water and perspiration, and several layers of magnesium hexafluoride to diffuse ambient light and protect pupils from harsh reflections. The distortion-free lenses also include a scratch resistant finish and optional polarization. Scheyden eyewear is ideal for precision activities. In addition to the Composite Hybrids, the company's product line includes the titanium-frame Fixed Gear collection, Classic FlipUp styles and Dual RX designs for prescription users. What they cost: The new Revelry Composite Hybrid glasses are available now. Prices range from $259 to $309. | Local Golf notebook: Texas Golf Hall readies for revival Posted: 13 Jul 2010 10:48 PM PDT The Texas Golf Hall of Fame will hold its first induction ceremony in almost 15 years on Oct. 25 at Brackenridge Park in San Antonio. The Texas Golf Hall of Fame was housed at Texas National Golf Club in Willis in 1978 and the Tournament Players Course in The Woodlands in mid-1980s. It officially closed in 2001. "We are very proud to bring back the Texas Golf Hall of Fame," said Reid Meyers, who was named the Texas Golf Hall of Fame executive director in November of 2009. "We are going to open as the fourth largest golf museum in the country." Brackenridge Park is the new home of the Hall of Fame. It features a new clubhouse, pavilion, outdoor terraces and the "Texas Golf Walk of Fame." "The Walk of Fame will include plaques, statues, artifacts and cases of artifacts," Meyers said. "We have a lot of stuff (in storage from The Woodlands) that we just don't know what to do with yet." Meyers said Ben Crenshaw, Kathy Whitworth, Judy Rankin and either John Mahaffey or Lee Trevino will be on the selection committee for the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. Meyers said the top 30 vote getters will have a chance to be inducted in October. "We will probably nominate 12," he said. "We will just see how many actually get in from there. We have a great history of Texas golfers (in the Texas Golf Hall of Fame)." Cantu second in AJGAIf Christina Cantu continues her current pace, she could be the next phenom on the LPGA Tour. The Houstonian, who has signed with Seton Hall, fired rounds of 71-74-73-218 to finish second in the American Junior Golf Association Nebraska Junior Championships at Quarry Oaks in Ashland, Neb. The second-place finish was Cantu's second straight top-10 finish on the AJGA circuit. Craig Rumora shot 74 over the final round, while Jordan carded an impressive 4-under 68 to give the team a total of 2-under 142 and the easy 12-shot win. Jordan played high school golf at Cy-Fair and is now a sophomore at the University of Houston. The Woodlands' Juan Jose Salcedo and Juan Salcedo were third at 284.
