Grounds crews at Shawnee Mountain Inn and Golf Resort have their work cut out for them.

The golf director says they are working extra hard to maintain the green in these extra hot temperatures.

"We've changed our hours of work for most of the guys. They start at 5 a.m. now and they hydrate themselves really well. We don't take on extra projects in these types of temperatures," said Steve Taggart, Shawnee's golf director.

The workers also make sure the green gets hydrated as well.

The same goes for the course at the Delaware Water Gap Country Club.

"We water every morning. Our superintendent has been in about two or three in the morning everyday trying to do it before it gets too hot," said Dustin McCormick, the head golf professional.

To make sure the golfers stay cool, a beverage cart makes its rounds on the green, hydrating the players. They don't mind the heat.

"The only thing you can do is wear light clothing, a hat and drink plenty of liquid," said Tony Mangan.

"A lot of liquid, liquid," said Ponko Pivovar.

As for golfers at Shawnee, they too admit only die-hard golfers will be caught in this weather.

"I'm totally insane, totally insane. Why would I want to be out here today when I can be in on the recliner, watching TV in air conditioning," said Jim Vanhorn.
