Pictures of two men suspected of stealing £750,000 of equipment from a string of golf clubs across the UK have been released by police. Skip related content

The offenders are thought to have struck at least 60 times in the past 15 months and target clubs during normal opening hours.

Police said the pair walk casually into empty changing rooms and force open lockers to select the most expensive equipment.

A BBC Crimewatch appeal in January failed to uncover any new leads, but officers from several forces came forward with similar unsolved offences.

Clubs in Nottingham, Lancashire, Somerset and Devon have been targeted, and in one case, five clubs in Lancashire were burgled on one day.

Detective Sergeant Dave Atherton, of Leyland CID, said he hopes the new images, taken from CCTV at Dainton Park in south Devon, will help to identify the men.

"They have targeted victims up and down the country and need to be caught," he said.

"The offenders have typically gained access to the clubs during late afternoon into the early evening.

"They have forced lockers and selectively stolen the more expensive clubs so they clearly know what they are doing.

"It is quite possible that they play golf themselves as they seem to be acutely aware of the protocols and seem confident in the clubhouses."

The first offender is described as 5ft 11in to 6ft, well-built, about 15 stone, aged in his late 30s, with what appears to be a shaved head or short cropped, light brown/blond hair.

He is described as having distinctively small ears which are slightly swollen.

The second offender is in his mid-30s, slimmer in appearance, with slightly longer and darker hair.

He is about 5ft 10in to 6ft and weighs around 12 stone.
