| Golf club members have fundraising down to a tee Posted: 17 Sep 2010 08:51 AM PDT Golf club members have fundraising down to a teeSeptember 17, 2010 WISLEY Golf Club members have raised more than £200,000 for charity, enabling them to donate a specialist minibus to an epilepsy trust. The recipient of the Sunshine Coach, the third minibus the golf club has donated, is the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy (NCYPE), based in Lingfield. NCYPE is a national charity providing specialist services and support for children and young people with epilepsy, and other neurological conditions including Asperger's syndrome, autism and a wide range of learning difficulties. The charity's director, David Ford, said: "This wonderful donation of a new Sunshine Coach will be like a dream come true for hundreds of our children. "We are extremely grateful to the generosity of members of Wisley Golf Club." Actor Dennis Waterman accepted the minibus on behalf of the charity. | Golf course open despite storm damage Posted: 17 Sep 2010 08:03 AM PDT ORRVILLE, Ohio - The Riceland Golf Course in Orrville will be open for business on Friday, despite the likely tornado that ripped though the property. The damaging winds brought down trees and caused destruction all across the historic course built in the 1920s. It missed the clubhouse and maintenance building by just 50 yards. One golfer, who was on the course last night, thinks it was a tornado based on the scattered pattern of damage. "It's classic damage because if you were out where we were going, where it came right across, there's no damage out here on the first hole," Matt Singlinger said. "A hundred yards away there's not any tree damage or anything not even any sticks down so it was amazing it was just that one swath." A group of high school golfers had just finished when the storm hit, some ended up waiting in the golf club owner's basement until it passed. The course is open for business. ----------------------- Copyright 2010 Scripps Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
