DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Roger Federer believes the worst is over for his "good friend" Tiger Woods and hopes to see him back on the golf course, local reports said Monday. "Tiger is a good friend of mine," Federer told the English language daily The Gulf News. "What's happened to him has been hard to watch over the last three months, right down to when he made his apology. I am sure he's headed in a better direction now. The worst has passed." On Friday, a somber and composed Woods made his first public appearance since he crashed his car into a tree outside his family home three months ago, setting off shocking allegations of rampant extramarital relationships. He admitted he cheated on his wife, said he was "deeply sorry," but did not say when he will play golf again. Federer was in the Gulf city-state to play in the Dubai Championships. The top-ranked tennis star, a four-time winner in Dubai, pulled out of the $2 million tournament Sunday because of a lung infection. Federer said hoped to return at Indian Wells on March 11, but made no promises. He did say he'd like to see Woods back playing golf soon. "It's been hard to watch from far away, but I would love to see him back on the golf course," Federer was quoted as saying. "It's what he does best." Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry. | Jobs in Golf Profile: Don Law (PGA) Posted: 22 Feb 2010 10:15 AM PST Message from fivefilters.org: If you can, please donate to the full-text RSS service so we can continue developing it. Editor's note: Don Law is the President and co-founder of ParKit Golf. He is a PGA Professional from Boca Raton, Fla. You started ParKit Golf last year with three other PGA Professionals last year, and your product "Golf Camp in a Bag" was voted "Best New Product" at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show. Tell us how ParKit Golf got started and your products. Law: ParKit was founded in 2009 by my wife, Diana Law, me, my fellow PGA Professionals Rick Heard, Chad Kurmel and Bill Scott of the Don Law Golf Academy located in Boca Raton, Fla. We have more than 80 years of combined experience teaching over 1,500 juniors annually. We took what we had learned and packaged it into a professional junior training kit full of educational games and tools. The kit is a "golf camp in a bag", making it simple for professionals to create a fun learning environment and grow their junior teaching program. Why do you think "Golf Camp in a Bag" and your other products have been successful? Law: By engaging kids in a fun, challenging and competitive activities, ParKit's games encourage kids to develop specific golf skills without realizing they are practicing golf drills. The kit gives teaching professionals the tools needed to implement 25 great games covering putting, chipping, pitching, bunkers and full swing. The games also teach many intangibles, including etiquette, respect, focus, sportsmanship and listening skills. Additional products include a short game training kit and individual practice games. There are plans to add more kits to our product line. How long have you worked in the golf industry and what is your background with junior golf programs? Law: I have worked 20 years in the industry and became a PGA member in 1993. For the past 12 years, I have been the owner and director of instruction at the Don Law Golf Academy. The academy has three locations and also conducts a five week overnight golf camp during the summer at Ocean Reef Club. In addition to the academy, I am the tour director for four US Kids Tours located in Stuart, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Miami. I am going into my ninth year as the South Florida Section Junior Chairman and am a Top 50 US Kids Master Instructor and a Top 50 Golf Range of America Instructor. What is the best part about working in the golf industry? Law: My relationship with other professionals, involvement in junior golf, and serving my community. What do you like most about your job? Law: The freedom and opportunity to grow and develop as a golf professional. I am challenged everyday. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry.
